Report: NRG bring in former Cloud9 assistant coach
NRG have bolstered their backroom staff just a week after formally introducing their new Canadian-majority roster to the world, sources have told Dus2.us. Their marquee signing of Josh "oSee" Ohm is surrounded by legendary IGL and coach Damian "daps" Steele, youthful players Justin "FaNg" Coakley, Jadan "HexT" Postma, with veteran rifler Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte. The squad and organization have received a warm reception both domestically and internationally.
One interesting piece missing from the roster creation was a coaching staff to support the new squad as they begin their journey to the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major. Now, Dust2.us understands that NRG have signed former Cloud9 assistant coach Joshua "m1cks" Micks to their Counter-Strike division as an analyst.
m1cks has an impressive resume both in NA and abroad starting with his time as a trial analyst on teams like Rogue and eUnited, before moving on to Cloud9 and Nordavind where he eventually became an assistant coach and head coach.
His biggest achievement was likely as the head coach of Detonate, when he and his squad were able to qualify for the 2023 BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR in Monterrey, Mexico. Due to roster issues, the team was eventually rendered unable to compete, however the achievement of qualifying itself was considered a significant feat for both the coach and the squad at the time.
