PwnAlone tops April player ranking
Another month has passed, and with its conclusion comes another Dust2.us player ranking. As the COVID-19 outbreak plagues the world, matches continued to play out online in April, a month which saw Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue achieve the highest rating among North American players with at least ten maps played.
Events that were factored into the creation of this ranking include the end of playoffs for ESEA Advanced Season 33, MDL Season 33 Relegation, ESL Pro League Season 11, the open and closed qualifiers for DreamHack Masters Spring, Flashpoint 1, eFire Master League Season 2, ESL One: Road to Rio, and MDL Season 34.
PwnAlone's top placement came as a result of his strong showing in MDL Relegation, where he helped New England Whalers retain their spot in the league with a 1.07 series rating. He then went on to dominate Orion to advance to the Closed Qualifier for DreamHack Masters Spring, managing strong showings against Cloud9 and Triumph despite losing both series in narrow fashion.
A Liquid duo in the form of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Keith "NAF" Markovic were next to follow as they took home second and third place, posting 1.26 and 1.23 ratings, respectively. The players took down Evil Geniuses three times in back-to-back showings to win ESL Pro League Season 11, and kicked off their ESL One: Road to Rio campaign strong with wins over Bad News Bears and Envy.
Robert "robby" Brown was the sole AA player among the top ten, helping to power his team to a win in eFire Master League Season 2 while posting decent numbers in MDL Relegation. Triumph's Michael "Grim" Wince was next up, with the team failing to qualify for DreamHack Masters Spring and placing fifth in Group A of the Road to Rio despite a 1.19 rating from the young rifler.
Swole Patrol also failed to find success in the Closed Qualifier for DreamHack Masters Spring, ending their run in fourth place. However, the team impressed earlier in the month in their ESL Pro League Season 11 effort, taking wins over Liquid and FURIA despite ending the event in sixth place. Overall, solid results for the team left Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro and Victor "food" Wong to top the board for their side, with both players ending April averaging a 1.17 rating.
Recon 5's Riley "Reality" Fusch and blood, sweat, and tears' Kevin "4pack" Przypasniak took eighth and ninth place, respectively, with the former posting good numbers in the qualifiers for DreamHack Masters Spring and the latter leading his team in the Advanced playoffs and MDL Relegation. Finally, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte rounded out the list with a 1.16 rating, being the only Evil Geniuses player among the top ten.
