M80 out of ESL Pro League Season 18
M80's run in Malta started with an overtime loss against Major semifinalists Apeks, followed by a close series against 5yclone, which saw the team drop to the Last Chance stage. In a do-or-die scenario against 9z, M80 couldn't win a single map, despite getting very close to doing so twice.
With this loss, M80 is the first team from Group C to be eliminated, taking home $4,000.
The series started off in Nuke, again. This time, M80 were able to make it closer than it was during the series against 5yclone. Despite starting 6-0 down on the CT-side, M80 managed to reach halftime only down a single round. The North Americans lost the second half pistol but 9z didn't run very far in this instance as, after being down 11-7, M80 tied the game 11-11. After that, 9z reached map point and, although M80 managed to get to 14, the South Americans closed the map 16-14.
Inferno had a similar start to Nuke, with M80 this time. The North American team opened a 5-0 lead early, but 9z got ahead 7-5. Despite this streak, M80 managed to get to halftime ahead 8-7. 9z won the second half T-side pistol, M80 extended the lead to 11-8, but after that it was another streak of rounds for 9z, getting a 13-11 lead. M80 tied the game, but, once again, 9z ran away with the map 16-13, eliminating M80 from ESL Pro League.
M80's next affairs involve the ESL Challenger League in North America and the Thunderpick World Championship in Europe, which starts on October 27th.
