FURIA shocked in opener
FURIA has not had the greatest beginning to their new era, with their struggles more pronounced due to the expectations set before them thanks to the high profile signings of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes.
The organization and the team believed they would be able to reach new heights, but unfortunately have not been able to even scratch at those expectations. In the game against Riders, a win would be much needed to assuage fans and boost their own confidence.
The match started on Riders' pick of Overpass where the Spaniards quickly recovered after a first-round pistol loss to take a commanding 7-2 lead to a 9-6 half. FURIA's ineffective CT-side cost them as they switched to the offense as they only managed to secure two rounds as they lost the opening map of ESL Pro League, 16-8.
While the first map may have been a fluke, the second one was definitely cause for concern. FURIA's Nuke has become one of their more favored in recent times, which includes a win over Natus Vincere at Gamers8. However, this would not be their day as FURIA found themselves 11-0 down before finding four to finish out the half. However, FURIA mounted a ridiculous comeback and tied up the game at 12-12, but that would not be enough as Riders would find their own footing and finish out the game 16-13.
