No surprises in day one of Thunderpick NA Series #2
Day one of Thunderpick NA Series #2 concluded last night, seeing four series played out alongside one forfeit. While this first day saw a number of interesting sides take to the server, the matches played out largely as expected as the more experienced and pedigreed squads advanced into the quarterfinals without too much trouble.
The first series of the day saw Hound take a relatively clean 2-0 win over Limitless. However, this win comes with the caveat that Limitless' new player Gareth "MisteM" Ries was unavailable for the match, with former BHOP player James "Gonzo" Madden standing in for the South African. Take Flyte versus ClayMakers also featured a stand-in last night as Collin "CoJoMo" Moren is heading to Romania for IESF 2023. In his place, Shimmer player Lucy "empathy" Verkaik took to the server, posting a great 1.40 rating to help the team to a 2-0 win over their Ukrainian opponents.
Elsewhere in the bracket, Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's Forsaken squad made quick work of Tempest in a relatively uneventful series. The final match of the day Bad News Bears versus 7AM NA went the distance and late into the night as the latter team gave Josh "steel" Nissan and co. real trouble, contesting the series until the end of map three, where BNB pulled ahead and took the series 2-1.
Day One saw the following matches in the Round of 20:
-
Forsaken vs. Tempest (2-0)
