INTZ take WINNERS League Season 3 Invite over WARDELL-less Swole Patrol
The grand final of WINNERS League Season 3 Invite played out tonight, seeing INTZ take a 2-0 victory over Swole Patrol.
Things got off to a poor start for the latter team, as Matthew "WARDELL" Yu was not awake as the first map went live, forcing the team to use coach Danny "fRoD" Montaner.
Despite the setback, the North American side kept things close on INTZ's pick of Vertigo, turning around a 5-10 deficit at the half to tie things up at 14-14. Unfortunately the upset was not to be, as the Brazilians closed out the final two rounds of the maps when their backs were against the wall.
Swole Patrol secured the opening round of Overpass, but things were mostly downhill from there, as Ricardo "boltz" Prass anchored INTZ's defense and saw the Brazilians secure a 12-3 lead at the half. Swole Patrol came out guns blazing on their own CT-side by taking the first five rounds, but they would win no more as INTZ slammed the door shut to win the map 16-8.
The final standings for the top eight of WINNERS League Season 3 Invite are:
1. INTZ - $7,000
2. Swole Patrol - $3,000
3-4. Riot Squad - $1,500
3-4. Singularity - $1,500
5-8. Chaos - $500
5-8. Mythic - $500
5-8. Triumph - $500
5-8. Station7 - $500
INTZ are one of the 24 teams that have received invites to participate in ESL Pro League Season 11 by virtue of winning the MDL Season 32 Finals over Riot Squad.
Swole Patrol, on the other hand, will have to participate in the next season of MDL.
