Luminosity owners deny FaZe acquisition offer
Yesterday, the Sports Business Journal reported that FaZe was entertaining acquisition offers from both Gamesquare and Enthusiast, the owners of Complexity and Luminosity, respectively. The news sent shockwaves throughout the gaming world as many speculated on what would happen to the FaZe brand should it be acquired by either company.
As of today, Enthusiast has responded to both SBJ and Esports Insider in regards to the report. To Sports Business Journal, Enthusiast Gaming CEO Nick Brien stated that his company has "not submitted any offer to acquire FaZe Clan, nor does it anticipate doing so." To Esports Insider, the company stated: "Enthusiast Gaming has not submitted any offer to acquire Faze Clan, nor does it anticipate doing so."
Also according to Esports Insider, both Gamesquare and FaZe denied to comment on the report.
While Enthusiast has stated they have not submitted any official offer to acquire FaZe, it does not mean that preliminary discussions were not had at any time. Additionally, both Gamesquare and FaZe have not commented on the matter.
Gamesquare entering into acquisition talks with FaZe could present a conflict as each organization has teams in shared titles. Both FaZe and Complexity operate teams in Counter-Strike, Halo, and FIFA, with Counter-Strike being the most significant conflict. Additionally, both organizations are members of the Louvre Agreement and are BLAST partners.
Enthusiast, backed by Francesco Aquilini, owner of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks as well as several other esports properties including the CDL Seattle Surge and OWL Vancouver Titans, only share one title in Call of Duty. The organization left the Counter-Strike scene in 2019.
