EG fall to Major champions
Evil Geniuses come into BLAST after a complete overhaul of their roster, and although they were aiming for stars such as Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Aleksandr "zorte" Zagodyrenko they ended up promoting their EG Black roster. With only Timothy "autimatic" Ta being retained from the previous lineup the responsibility to help the team make the step up falls largely on his shoulders, with only AWPer Paytyn "Junior" Johnson and rifler Jadan "HexT" Postma having limited previous tier one experience.
It would be straight into the deep end for the EG side as they faced Major Champions Vitality in their first BO3 in Denmark, with the result going much the way one would expect. The first map would be EG's pick of Overpass and the NA side got off to a rough start going winless in the first ten rounds before they got on the board. It would be the only round of the half for EG as a 14-1 scoreline left them a mountain to climb in the second half, despite managing to get themselves some rounds the deficit was too much as they lost 16-6.
Vertigo was even more of a struggle as Vitality started on the T side and targeted the B bombsite securing themselves a 12-3 score at the half. Vitality closed it out without dropping a single round on their CT side pushing themselves to a comfortable 16-3 win to lock in the series 2-0. New addition Shahar "flameZ" Shushan impressed on his debut for Vitality posting a 1.52 rating across the two maps, whilst junior was the only EG player to go positive with a 1.07 rating.
EG will play the loser of Complexity and NIP in their next match and will hope to put up a much sterner test especially if they are left facing their North American rivals.
