ESL to use CS:GO "until further notice"
Marc Winther, Head of Game Ecosystems for Counter-Strike at ESL, revealed through a Twitter reply that "until further notice, CS:GO will be the game played", stating that "CS2 currently has no specific release day" and that fans and organizations will be noticed about the title change "as soon as [ESL] can".
Valve announced that Counter-Strike 2's release will be happening this Summer, but no specific date has been announced, leaving tournament organizers, players, and fans in the dark about when they should expect to see the competition switch over.
BLAST Fall Groups are just two weeks away and IEM Cologne starts in less than a month, which fans can assume will be played on CS:GO. While the summer technically ends in September, fans were expecting the new game to be released earlier rather than later in the season. With no recent news from the developer, ESL and BLAST will likely have to stick with CS:GO until Valve decides to make the game available to everyone.
The off-season started just a little over a week ago, but the expectations for its restart are high as, in combination with the imminent release of CS2, a lot of teams are making huge roster moves and fans are eager to see those line-ups on the servers.
