Nouns part ways with cynic in shock move
In a shock move, Nouns have parted ways with IGL David "cynic" Polster. The move sees cynic out of the lineup just days after Nouns won the ESEA Cash Cup Circuit Finals, claiming a spot in the IEM Fall Closed Qualifier and a bootcamp during IEM Cologne in July.
cynic was a long-standing member of Nouns, having joined the team when they played under the Gaimin Gladiators tag in early 2022. During his time as the IGL of the squad, while the roster was often tumultuous, it found great success in the domestic scene, regularly contending with the likes of ATK for the best team in the subtop scene.
The only real mark against cynic's leadership of Nouns on paper was its struggles to climb over the subtop hurdle and make a mark internationally. The team missed out on qualifying for the past two CS:GO Majors while also exiting IEM Dallas in a poor showing.
Additionally, as previously mentioned, Nouns recently won a bootcamp paid for by ESL, granting the team a chance to play against the best teams in Europe during IEM Cologne. As such, to suddenly cut the team's IGL at this stage will likely surprise many fans of the team.
Unfortunately, any definitive answer on why the team's IGL and AWP is out is few and far between at the time of publication. cynic, Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen, and Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly declined a request for comment from Dust2.us while Sasquatch, a representative of Nouns, offered a simple remark thanking cynic for his time with the team.
With cynic out of the roster, Nouns are now:
-
Brendan "Bwills" Williams
-
Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly
-
Christopher "cJ" Jones
-
Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado
-
Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen (Coach)
Nouns will likely use the player break to find a new IGL and AWP they can bed in ahead of their ESEA-funded bootcamp that is set to take place during IEM Cologne.
