Americas go 0-6 in Dallas

Every Americas team lost their opening BO1 to Europeans.

Unfortunately for the American fans watching IEM Dallas, we've managed to lose every opening matchup we were handed today. We had two overtimes and a 16-14, so it's not all as bad as it sounds, but the 0-6 still stands.

To open the day, we had Nouns vs G2 and FURIA vs OG, both on Inferno. Nouns got absolutely stomped by heavy-favorites G2 16-5, however, FURIA had a close 14-16 loss. The other Group A match with an Americas team was Heroic vs 9z on Mirage. Ultimately, the second-best team in the world had no difficulty versus the South American side, taking the map 16-9.

In Group B, Evil Geniuses, Complexity, and Liquid were representing the Americas, and more specifically North America. In their opening match, EG managed to finagle 8-7 and 7-8 halves, sending them onto overtime on Mirage versus FaZe Clan. Unfortunately, they were unable to upset FaZe further, losing out 17-19.

In their match versus ENCE, Complexity struggled to show up on Nuke with a lacking 5-10 opening CT-side. ENCE were able to capitalize on their strong start and continued to take heads on the CT-side, ending with a 16-7 win.

Liquid versus Astralis opened up as what seemed like an EZ game for the hometown heroes, however, after a 6-0 lead things went astray. Astralis were able to come back for an 8-7 half-time scoreline, with Liquid only narrowly managing to match the same on their T-side. Going into overtime, Astralis were able to take both halves 2-1, claiming the map and series 19-17.

All the Americas teams are now in the lower-brackets of their respective groups where they have the follow BO3 matches:

Group A

  • 9z vs FNATIC

  • FURIA vs Nouns

Group B

  • Evil Geniuses vs Complexity

  • Liquid vs Grayhound
