LIQUID COMPLETE MIRACULOUS REVERSE SWEEP
North America has completed an improbably reverse sweep after being beaten down 0-2 to start their Paris Major journey. The squad were able to fight back through regional rivals in Fluxo and Complexity, before facing off against the Australians from Grayhound this afternoon. While the North Americans looked shaky against Fluxo, they were defiantly strong against Complexity and once again against Grayhound.
It certainly looked like Liquid would crash out of the Major, especially after the despondent faces on every member. There was a lack of communication, clarity, and cohesion. The Fluxo game brought it all to a head, but the team came out stronger and now, made a clear path to the next stage.
Starting off on Liquid's pick of Anubis, the North Americans started off dominantly and were lethal in the clutch. Round after round, Liquid would fall down early, but thanks to the superior individual plays, most of the time relying on Josh "oSee" Ohm, Liquid would somehow stay alive and take a 11-4 lead on the map. Grayhound responded in kind by playing to their strengths in aggressive T-side pushes, but Liquid would outlast the Australians and take the first map 16-9.
Coming into Inferno, Liquid were firing off in all cylinders. The North American side won the CT-side pistol and the following round, but Grayhound managed to go up 3-2. After that, it was Liquid's show. 10 rounds in a row sent Liquid to the half up 12-3. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski went to halftime with 17 kills, after a 3K in the 15th round. The first couple of rounds on the T-side went to Grayhound, Liquid replied with just two before Grayhound got a third. The team went back and forth, but eventually Liquid got to 16, completing their 0-2 comeback and qualifying for the Legends stage.
Liquid are now headed to the Legends stage where they will face 9INE, in a BO1, Saturday at 05:30AM.
