Liquid sends Complexity home in dominant fashion
Both Liquid and Complexity have really struggled to get going thus far at the BLAST.tv Paris Major. Liquid came into the tournament as an outside favorite to win the whole thing, but Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co. have looked disjointed in their losses to Apeks and Forze and unconvincing in their 2-1 win over Fluxo. As for Complexity, they were unable to build upon the momentum they had gained from their opening win against GamerLegion, losing out to G2 and paiN to fall into the elimination game.
The more experienced NA team opted to choose Anubis for their map pick and for good reason it looked like, with Liquid storming out to a dominant 9-0 lead on the T-side. Complexity salvaged what they could when they finally broke the streak of rounds, but it appeared they were heading for a blowout loss going in at the break down 12-3.
Coming back out on the preferred offensive side, Complexity showed signs of life with a string of rounds after their pistol round win. Clawing things back round by round, it looked as if the lesser experienced NA team was going to resurrect the "Chokequid" meme on behalf of their compatriots, but the occasional round here and there for Liquid was the killer. Liquid unconvincingly got over the line, securing map point on a half buy and sending the match to Overpass with a 16-11 scoreline.
Traditionally a strong map for Complexity, Overpass got off to a horrendous start for Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's side in a similar fashion to Anubis as Liquid took the first 9 rounds without response. Unfortunately for Complexity, they were not able to stem the bleeding at all this time as Liquid continued to plunge the knife deeper and deeper by not dropping a single round in the half.
Complexity avoided the embarrassing fate of becoming the fourth team in Major history to lose 16-0 with JT's 3k in the pistol securing their first round. Regardless, Complexity was not long for this world, as Liquid secured the one round required and put up a 16-3 scoreline, moving on to the 2-2 game tomorrow.
