JT: "We played very aggressive and I don't think they were expecting that"
People weren't sure of what Complexity to expect heading into the Challengers stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major. Following their woeful performance at ESL Challenger Melbourne, not many people had faith in the North American side. Despite this, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's side looked to be full of confidence in their opening-round win over GamerLegion. Dust2us' Arnie Petty got a chance to catch up with the South African IGL after the win.
With Complexity's recent form, it would not be unfair to assume that there might be some nerves in the camp heading into the biggest tournament of the year. Regardless of that, the 24-year-old IGL does not believe there were any nerves today considering the sheer volume of competition they have partaken in as of late.
I don't think any of us had any nerves really, it just feels like any other tournament. We have played a lot of tournaments recently so it just feels good to have a win.
Complexity has become accustomed to starting off on the right foot in their matches with today's game on Inferno being no different. Going in at halftime with a hefty 13-2 lead, JT attributes a lot of their success on the CT-side to their style, aggressively imposing their will on their European foes.
I think we just had a good game plan going into it. We played very aggressive and I don't think they were expecting that and we won some clutches that maybe we shouldn't have and it just went our way. I'm not sure if we will always get that but it's been nice.
Unfortunately for the North American hopefuls, another staple of their team has been choking the big leads that they take early on in games. Up 13-2 at halftime today, it looked as if Complexity were heading toward a fate they are all to familiar with as they looked flustered when GamerLegion reached 13-10. While they were able to close out the game 16-11, JT remained jovial when pressed on the issue.
We were just saving strats for the next game!
That next game will be taking place tomorrow as Complexity look to be locked in for a clash against European giant G2 in their 1-0 game.
