Complexity vs. Imperial, again
It seems that these two teams are always facing each other when it comes down to spots in crucial tournaments, and this time is no different, as Complexity and Imperial are battling to not get eliminated from the Americas RMR today.
This series has a lot of weight for both teams, even more so as this is the last CS:GO major ever, and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo doesn't want to miss it for nothing, whereas for the North American side, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and co. want to be present on their first and last CS:GO major.
This derby started all the way back on the IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR, last year, in a series where the winner would advance to the Challengers Stage of IEM Rio and the loser would go home, a very similar situation to today, except the winner will still have to win another series in order to head to Paris.
The IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR clash ended with Imperial taking the last Americas spot after a long series that saw all three maps being very close, with an overtime finish on the Overpass decider.
The next time both teams saw each other on the server was during ESL Pro League Season 17 in yet another elimination match, this time in the Last Chance stage of the group phase. The series started horribly for Complexity with a 16-1 loss on Inferno, but the NA side managed to pull it back, winning Ancient 16-14 and another Overpass decider that went to overtime, but this one went Complexity's way 25-23. Where were you during the JT clutch?
The last time the two teams had to play each other was, you guessed, another elimination match. BLAST Premier Spring Showdown Americas was relentless for the region's teams and a single loss would mean they would be out. Complexity and Imperial encountered each other in the earliest stage of the qualifier for BLAST Premier Spring 2023, and the Brazilians came out on top after Complexity got the first map.
The history is not on Complexity's side, as Imperial have won two out three series between both teams, but if one is to do some mental gymnastics, today it will be NA who will be celebrating, given the loss/win/loss record from Complexity against Imperial. Surely, today is Complexity's turn to win.
Complexity vs. Imperial starts at 02:00PM.
