The fast and the FURIAous
Placed in the group of Fs with FURIA, fnatic, FaZe, and FORZE, the Brazilians are hoping to push their way past the normally tougher competition in fnatic and FaZe should they want to have a shot against FORZE, who have proven to be a quite a handful at Pro League. FURIA is looking to come back after a tough time at IEM Katowice where they went out in the Play-in at the hands of the Mongolians from IHC. With strong victories over Imperial, BIG, and Riders, the Brazilians are hoping to continue that form, especially thanks to the magical performances from Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato.
The match veto did not go the way anyone expected at all as fnatic picked Ancient to start off the match, a map they have barely played and one that FURIA has also shied away from. For fnatic, the start of the game did not go the way that they might have wanted as FURIA took the early advantage 5-1 on their T-side. However, fnatic were able to bring it back ever so slightly so that the first half ended in a 7-8 deficit.
For FURIA, this was no problem where even despite losing the second pistol of the map, they would regain control of the momentum as they powered to a 13-9 lead. Despite some late heroics coming out of the Europeans, it would not be enough as the Brazilians powered through to a 16-13 map victory against their opponents.
With the one map advantage, FURIA were looking to close it out on Anubis, a map that fnatic really have not had a ton of experience on. fnatic didn't show a lot of unfamiliarity as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead on their T-side. However, that lead wouldn't last for long as they suddenly found themselves on a 0-9 run as FURIA took the first half 9-6.
The second half was a more testy affair as fnatic proved to be staunch in their defense. The Europeans got five out of the first six rounds, taking a slight lead to potentially make this a three map series. However, Brazil would not go so quietly as they stormed back to take the win 16-13.
