Complexity with a BIG misstep
Complexity are almost at their peak, featuring as the 11th best player in the world while BIG recently had to make a big change in their lineup with Marcel "hyped" Köhn coming in for Florian "syrson" Rische. Meanwhile, Ricky "floppy" Kemery and his gang of scappy youngsters have proved to be quite the handful at the international stage thanks to a prominent IEM Katowice performance.
The match started off on BIG's pick of Ancient, which is almost appeared they would immediately regret as Complexity jumped out to a 5-1 lead on their CT-side despite losing the pistol. The first half continued towards Complexity dominance as the Americans would close out the half 10-5.
With BIG now getting a chance to play on defense, they would not be able to take any advantages, despite once again winning the pistol. Complexity would win their second, second-round force buy and cruise to a 16-8 win on Ancient.
For Complexity, the ball was in their court as they headed to their own pick of Nuke. Originally, we predicted that they would choose Overpass, but BIG forced that as their first ban, leading up here. A change in plans would show the slight weakness that Complexity had. Despite leading 5-2 to start the game, Complexity would then lose the rest of the first half to go down 5-10.
The second half would finally go according to plan as Complexity, for the third time, would lose the pistol, but win the second round force buy and start to bring the game closer. The Dallas team would tie up the game at 11-11, but they would be unable to hold off BIG as they lose their own map pick 16-12.
With the third map of Vertigo looking like it would be a grand old time, Complexity would once again be unable to find an opening pistol round, but like all the other games, it didn't seem to matter as they immediately responded and took a 3-2 lead, before having it tied up at 4-4. Even with that, the Americans would power through to close it out 9-6.
The second half would not start off the way that Complexity wanted to, as they would lose five straight to go down 11-9 from their 9-6 lead. Such a stumble would prove to be fatal as BIG would coast to a 16-14 lead, stopping a last second comeback by Complexity, and win the series 2-1.
