Shimmer and byte qualify for ESL Impact Season 3

ESL Impact recently announced the teams that were invited to ESL Impact Season 3 and how many teams could join them through open qualifiers. In North America, CLG Red, EG Gold, Saints, and Chimkin are already guaranteed to play in the NA division without having to play in the qualifiers.

The first qualifier started yesterday and granted two spots on the division stage. Shimmer and byte grabbed those two with ease.

Shimmer entered the qualifier as the #1 seed, meaning they would get a bye in the first round due to only seven teams participating. In the semifinal, the qualifying round, Shimmer faced Cherry Bombs and gave them no chance. 16-2 and 16-1 were the final scores of the two maps. With just this win, Shimmer booked themselves on the division stage.

byte were the #3 seed and were matched up with SeraFem, #6, in the first round. byte managed to win after two close maps, that could have gone either way. After SeraFem, byte had to beat U-Turn in order to qualify. The first map ended 16-14 in favor of byte, and the second was more comfortable for the #3 seed, with a final score of 16-8.
