Powerzz steps down from Variance; blitzz moves to analyst role
After narrowly avoiding being relegated, Variance have made their first change of the off-season, as George "Powerzz" Yaede has stepped down from the team.
In a follow-up tweet, Bilal "SPAMMER" Ali mentioned that Powerzz's work schedule had left him unable to commit the time needed to practice. The move leaves Justin "FaNg" Coakley and SPAMMER as the only remaining members of the team that qualified to MDL Season 31 after besting The Quest in relegation.
The freshman MDL effort was incredibly tumultuous for Variance as they experienced numerous roster changes, with ten players featuring for the squad over the course of the season. The team ended Season 31 with a 7-10 record which allowed them to narrowly qualify for Season 32, owing to a mid-season win against Thunder Logic.
The departure of Powerzz isn't the only change the team as the team's on-again, off-again coach Huthaifa "blitzz" Khan has announced that he too has stepped down from the team to take a part-time analyst role. blitzz is most known for leaving the team in the middle of last season before being unable to officially rejoin due to the squad being out of roster additions. As a result, Variance will also be looking for a new coach for Sesaon 32.
Variance's roster is now:
- Justin "FaNg" Coakley
- Kevin "4pack" Przypasniak
- Bilal "SPAMMER" Ali
- Erick "Xeppaa" Bach
- Huthaifa "blitzz" Khan (Analyst)
Like the majority of North American teams, Variance are currently inactive as they await the start of MDL Season 32, which is set to begin on August 30th.
