DreamHack announce Canadian Championship
DreamHack Canada have announced that they will hold a CS:GO tournament at DreamHack Montreal, with entry into the tournament and qualifiers open only to Canadian residents.
The DreamHack Canadian Championship consists of a $20,000 prize pool split evenly between League of Legends and CS:GO, with each game seeing two teams duke it out at the Olympic Stadium for the lion's share of the prize pool. The winner of each of the two open qualifiers, currently scheduled for July 27th and August 3rd, will qualify for the finals, with flights and hotel stay being paid by DreamHack.
Signup links for both qualifiers have yet to be posted, although those who are interested can join the mailing list on the DreamHack Canadian Championship website to be notified once they are. Again, only Canadian residents will be eligible to play in the qualifiers and make their way to the finals.
The news marks the (albeit brief) return of CS:GO at DreamHack Montreal, with the original eight-team $100,000 tournament getting cancelled as it overlaps with the StarLadder Berlin Major. The event was replaced by DreamHack Open Sevila, which will run from December 13-15 instead in order to avoid date conflicts.
DreamHack Montreal will feature Rocket League, StarCraft, Rainbow Six, and a handful of fighting games, and is set to take place from September 6-8. The date for the CS:GO finals is currently unknown, although it is likely that the two teams will clash on the final day of the event.
