ATK lose longtime American
ATK announced that Ian "motm" Hardy is no longer part of the team after being one of the pillars since the beginning of the project.
The news didn't fare well with the team's fans after some, on the tweet of the announcement, expressed their discontent with the decision.
The roster change comes after a month of great regional success after ATK won ESEA Autumn 2022 Cash Cup 2 North America and, more notoriously, the ESL Challenger League Season 42 North America. The team was also present in the IEM Road to Rio 2022 Americas RMR, but things didn't go as planned after an early loss against Complexity, and then two BO3 losses against 9z and paiN, but still the team was able to beat MIBR and ARCTIC. The ongoing season of ESL Challenger League North America started well for ATK, as the team has a 2-0 record with motm posting 1.15 and 1.40 ratings.
motm has tweeted out that he doesn't know why the team doesn't see a future with him. Anyway, the rifler wants to continue pursuing a successful career and is looking for opportunities to showcase his skills on the top level of NA Counter-Strike. motm has been a widely known name in the American CS:GO scene, having been a player in squads like 2019 Party Astronauts, the South African/North American Cloud9, an early iteration of Extra Salt, and the all USA-born Triumph. Some stints were longer than others but none were as long as his stint with ATK which started in August 2021 and ended in November 2022.
The current ATK squad is:
-
Michael "Swisher" Schmid
-
Gareth "MisteM" Ries
-
Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong
-
Jonathan "b0denmaster" Bodenmalm
-
Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan (Coach)
The team needs to find a new fifth before their next ECL Season 43 NA match against Disconnected, on December 2nd.
