Complexity falter early
A match that not many would have expected to end the way it did, Complexity suffer an early defeat to Sharks in just two maps and see an end to their season. One of the biggest upsets that BLAST could have had with the lowest ranked Sharks upsetting the highest ranked Complexity.
The first map started out on Sharks' pick of Dust2, where it was immediately clear that this was going the way of the Brazilians. Despite Complexity winning the pistol and the subsequent gun rounds, Sharks were able to plant the bomb three times in a row, showing their attacking prowess. Sharks would bring themselves back into the half by tying the score at 3-3, before allowing the Americans to get up to six rounds. However, that would be all they get in the half as Sharks win six in a row to make it 9-6.
With Complexity losing out on their CT side, there was not much hope that they would be able to bring it back. Despite winning the opening pistol, an absolutely ridiculous second-round pistol save win from Sharks would turn the tide into their favor and help them win five rounds in a row to expand their lead to 14-7. While Complexity was able to get a few rounds after, it was all for naught as Sharks close out the map 16-9.
It was then Complexity's turn to play on their favorite pick as they began their T-side on Nuke and it looked like Complexity was going to easily take this map after winning the first four rounds, but that would not be the case. Sharks would storm back and immediately claim eight rounds to make the score 4-8. Complexity struggled to get back into the game and would finish the half 6-9.
While it was their T-side, and it was only a three round deficit, there was hope that Complexity would turn it around on the CT side things did not start going immediately to plan. The Americans would lose the pistol and the subsequent two rounds, putting them on a six round separation at 6-12. Complexity never were able to get in the game and simply could not string rounds together. A missed defuse because there was no kit was just icing on the cake of an unfortunate upset as Complexity fall 16-14 despite late map heroics.
Complexity's season, at this point, is unfortunately over for the year. There are no future events for Complexity to play as they missed out on the Major as well. Their next big event to look forward to is IEM Katowice which begins January 30th.
