Complexity survive after first map scare
Complexity have made it to the Americas RMR 6th place decider match! Despite a map one loss to Isurus on Inferno, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou held their nerves and rallied back to take down the Argentine team on Overpass and Nuke, with a dominant performance on Nuke ending the day off at the Americas RMR.
Isurus' map pick of Inferno was a shocking reversal of fortunes for Complexity from their recent results, seeing the North Americans being taken down 11-16 on the map despite a strong 10-5 CT-side start on the map. The lack of success on their worst map can be largely attributed due to an uncommon underperformance from Ricky "floppy" Kemery, which saw the star end the map with a 0.70 rating. However, in what is a reversal from the usual fortunes, JT has a massive performance on this map despite the loss, ending Inferno with a 1.65 rating, something that seemingly motivated his troops heading into Overpass.
Moving into Overpass, Complexity won their opening T-side with a fairly average 9-6 scoreline before picking up the momentum on their CT-side side to crush Isurus and take the map 16-7. On the CT-side, Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli was notably a completely brick wall, putting up an 11-3 K-D ratio while ending the half with 135 ADR and a 2.26 rating.
With the series tied up, Complexity shocked fans in a completely different way compared to Inferno. They came into Nuke like a hydrogen bomb as they smashed the South Americans on Isurus with a near-perfect 14-1 CT-side before taking the map 16-1, sending the underdog squad packing. Despite it being a shooting gallery across the board, JT was once again the top performer with a 20-7 K-D ratio and a 1.81 rating.
With the swiss stage finished with a 3-2 record, Complexity are set to move onto the sixth-place decider. There they will face off against the winner of Imperial vs. paiN to try and clinch one final spot at the IEM Rio Major for North America!
