Hurricane Ian forces second emergency sub for ECL team
With Hurricane Ian making landfall in Southwest Florida yesterday, a number of Floridians prepared to evacuate the region ahead of the devastating storm. Among those seeking shelter further North was Brazen's IGL, Marco "Pol0" Hernandez. While esports should be a secondary priority behind the player's safety, Pol0's evacuation left Brazen with an incomplete roster ahead of their final regular season match against Mythic.
Fortunately for Brazen, ESL allowed the squad to add former Third Impact player James "JAM" H. as an emergency roster addition for their match against the stream team. Notably, this is the team's second emergency transfer of the season after Tianyi "Fr3nk1e" He joined the squad due to Gage "Infinite" Green needing elbow surgery in the near future.
Despite it being a single series, JAM likely appreciates the sudden callup to ECL as he last played in the division during ESL Challenger League Season 40 alongside Third Impact. Keeping the extremely unfortunate circumstances for the team in mind, Brazen unfortunately fell to Mythic in a relatively one-sided 2-0 loss to end their regular season. Of course, this could be expected as the team are using essentially two ringers and were without their IGL last night.
Fortunately though, Brazen were able to narrowly able to make playing thanks to EG Black claiming a surprisingly close 2-1 win over Kari. Depending on Pol0's ability to play playoffs due to the hurricane, JAM would likely continue to help the team for the remainder of the season.
Dust2.us wishes the best for Pol0 and everyone affected by Hurricane Ian in this difficult time. If you would like to support relief efforts, consider donating to the Red Cross as they will be supporting recovery efforts.
