Twistzz in position to make history
FaZe came second in Group B of ESL Pro League season 16, thus qualifying for playoffs. Yesterday's draw dictated that FaZe face off against Complexity and, should they win, Cloud9 will be their obstacle before reaching the semifinals.
The Russian squad from C9 is the only team that beat Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's FaZe previously this year in an Intel Grand Slam event, so it's only fair to say that the path to the win should be reachable for the legendary clan, with some tough matchups on the way there, obviously.
If FaZe do win the 16th season of ESL Pro League, Twistzz will be the only player ever with two Intel Grand Slam wins. This is an incredible feat seeing as only 14 other players have accomplished a single IGS win. Despite only having been ranked as a top 10 player once before in 2019, the 22-year-old from Canada has a cabinet full of trophies, as well as some MVP medals.
Regardless of his young age, Twistzz has been playing high-level Counter-Strike since 2016, when he started out with AGG. His career reached new heights when he joined Liquid in 2017. Since then, the Canadian rifler has won nine S-tier events, paired with many more tournament wins. Just to put into perspective his level of play, Twistzz has more top 5 or better finishes in tournaments than not top 5 results.
If FaZe manage to win ESL Pro League season 16, should Twistzz be considered in the G.O.A.T. conversation?
