In the most recent HLTV confirmed, multiple-time guest Owen "smooya" Butterfield was discussing salaries with the hosts and then stated that Evil Geniuses players Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov are making over 30k a month. Dust2 is aware that both the EG players recently signed contract extensions but it is unconfirmed how much their current salary is.

For a long time in the NA scene, there has been a trend of paying large salaries, and for the most part, these salaries were not common knowledge. Due to the decline in the market in recent years, it was rumored that salary figures have come down, but if what smooya says is true then this decrease in salaries might not be the case for EG. As far back as early 2020, Cloud9 released that Özgür "woxic" Eker's contract was worth 29k a month, a figure that would cause backlash and lead some fans to call woxic overpriced.

With smooya revealing these figures to the world, it will surely bring back the debate from Henry "HenryG" Greer's time as Cloud9's General Manager of whether organizations should release the amount that players are being paid.
