FalleN is most tweeted Esports Player so far in 2022
Eventually, we all come to Brazil and in this case, the whole world is Brazil. In a tweet thread today published by Twitter's Global Head of Creator & Gaming Content Partnerships, Rishi Chadha, the executive revealed that star IGL Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo was the most talked about esports player so far in 2022. There were approximately 1.6 billion tweets sent about gaming in the first half of 2022, which was a 36% year-over-year increase compared to the same time period in 2021.
Imperial signed FalleN and his "Last Dance" CSGO project back in February 2022, following massive media attention and speculation over where the legendary IGL would end up. Social media was ablaze with comments about the IGL, especially during the PGL Antwerp Major where Imperial surprised everyone by qualifying out of the Challengers Stage when many pegged them to go winless. Imperial continued to show off by nearly making it to the playoff stages of the pinnacle event, however they ultimately fell 0-2 to Copenhagen Flames in the final 2-2 match of the Legends Stage.
Since then, Imperial has struggled to maintain the same form with early exits at IEM Dallas and IEM Cologne, among other events. Regardless, FalleN is a notable figure within the Brazilian scene for his charitable efforts, his commitment to the grassroots scene, and historical accomplishments. With all of those factors, its easy to see why the AWPer is one of the most talked about players this year.
