Report: Evil Geniuses could lose stars in September
Multiple sources have told Dust2.us that key contracts within Evil Geniuses are set to expire in the coming months. Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte have yet to sign a new deal with Evil Geniuses and the duo could leave the Seattle-based organization at the end of September.
The duo represent the last two original members of the NRG squad acquired by Evil Geniuses for $3 million on the eve of IEM New York 2019. The loss of these key pieces would, despite their recent lackluster performances, would be a harsh blow for the organization after a massively disappointing start to the year.
While it would be a watershed moment for Evil Geniuses three-year history in CS:GO, it could be a blessing in disguise for the organization and a moment to prove the value of the "Blueprint" project. CeRq and Brehze have been in a noticeable slump for the better part of a year, causing concern to many in North America who can recall their heights in the best team in the world during 2019. Evil Geniuses have a number of players on hand to replace them them, with Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue and Jadan "HexT" Postma being inexperienced but highly talented players with similar roles.
As for CeRq and Brehze, despite their lackluster form, they would likely remain highly sought after pieces in NA and potentially abroad for CeRq. Dust2.us has reached out to Evil Geniuses for comment on the duo's contractual situation, but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.
