Complexity narrowly overcome IHC at PGL Antwerp
Complexity have found their footing at the PGL Major in Antwerp, edging out Mongolian side IHC 16-13 to even their Swiss record 1-1. After a tragic showing against Vitality in their opening match, Complexity can take some solace with this victory.
This game was nothing short of a back-and-forth bloodbath, with neither team able to string together more than five in a row at any point in the match. Meeting on Nuke, IHC got off to a flying start on the T-side, posting a 6-2 scoreline to strike fear into the hearts of NA fans. After an incredibly close 1v4 attempt by Yesuntumur "nin9" Gantulga, Complexity managed to piece together four rounds to even up the scoreline at 6-6. IHC snagged two of the remaining three rounds to lead at the half 8-7.
Complexity looked like a completely different team on their T-side, collecting the first four rounds to be the first of the two teams to reach double digits. IHC were not content with just rolling over, snatching five of the next seven rounds to tie up the game at 13-13. With the game completely up in the air, Complexity pulled themselves together long enough to secure three more rounds, taking the map 16-13 to avoid being sent to the elimination match.
Something that stuck out like a sore thumb this game was the performance of Michael "Grim" Wince, who posted a 0.68 rating overall. Reportedly, the former Liquid player is feeling under the weather, which may have had an impact on his individual form. Boots on the ground at the event claim that Grim left the playing area immediately after the game, presumably due to this.
With that win, Complexity now have some breathing room to work with, as a loss in this match would have put them at risk of being eliminated from the event. With this win, Complexity can afford to lose one more match before being put on elimination point. The squad now eagerly await the results of the second round of matches, hoping for an easy opponent in their 1-1 game.
