Update: Further details emerge from zews' brush with death
Wilton "zews" Prado took to Twitter after some well-deserved time to rest and recover to provide further information about his frightening heart attack on April 24th. Prior to today, we knew that zews had been treated in São Paulo and that he required advanced cardiac intervention. But today zews shared more of the specifics of his case publicly and it's nothing short of a miracle.
I mentioned in my last article that a heart attack, or myocardial infarction, is the result of reduced blood flow to heart muscle. You don't need to have my medical degree to see in the picture above that that artery with the red arrow pointing to it is barely visible in the first picture compared to what it's supposed to look like in the second after the cardiologists intervened and removed the blockage.
zews goes on to mention that with the degree of obstruction that he had in the artery that he had it in, there was a 90% chance of death and 95% chance of permanent deficits in his bodily functions. Heart attacks in this artery in particular (forgive my translation if I'm wrong), the left anterior descending artery, carry the nickname of being "Widowmaker" heart attacks, because of the high mortality rate. Simply put, if zews hadn't been close to a hospital with the right people and right equipment, he would be dead.
Thankfully, that is not the case. Nós te amamos zews and we here at Dust2.us continue to wish you the best throughout your recovery.
