Update: Swisher to leave Orgless for ATK
Michael "Swisher" Schmid has left Orgless to join ATK on trial for the up-and-coming ESEA Cash Cup, leaving Damian "daps" Steele's project with an uncertain future. The move would see Swisher replacing Erik "truth" Hansen Dyrnes, who has not been playing with the team since March 31st due to illness. In the meantime, ATK has been playing with Johnny "JDubs" Wu as a stand-in.
Swisher has been a part of Orgless since its formation in January, but he didn't quite find the form that he experienced whilst playing with Bad News Bears, posting a 1.01 rating in 37 maps as opposed to a 1.11 rating in 254 maps. Swisher and Orgless weren't able to produce the form that a lot of people expected from a team with an former tier 1 IGL, ending their ESL Challenger League Season 40 by going out in the first round of the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what kind of form Swisher can find with ATK, and whether he can replicate the play he had for Bad News Bears.
Dust2.us reached out to truth for a comment but as of the time of publication has not had a response.
truth was picked up by the South African organization back in late January alongside Swedish AWPer Jonathan "b0denmaster" Bodenmalm. In the 49 maps that he played with the team he was able to produce a 0.99 rating, however, his last game was on the 31st of March and he was hospitalized shortly after. It's currently unknown whether this trial for Swisher at the Cash Cup means that truth is permanently out of the roster or if this is just a temporary measure whilst he recovers. Dust2.us also reached out to ATK coach, Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan, but at the time of publication has yet to receive a response.
ATK has achieved mixed results with their international roster, most recently finishing 2nd at ACE Masters, narrowly missing out on the Showdown stage. They finished 5-6th in Season 40 of ESL Challenger League after making the playoffs. Perhaps the injection of young talent Swisher will bring ATK across the line to the top of North American tier 2 CS:GO.
After this move ATK is attending the ESEA Cash Cup with:
-
Gareth "MisteM" Ries
-
Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong
-
Ian "motm" Hardy
-
Johnathan "b0denmaster" Bodenmalm
-
Michael "Swisher" Schmid
-
Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan (Coach)
For Orgless they are now:
-
Damian "daps" Steele
-
Marshall "Minus" Sedowicz
-
Brendan "Bwills" Williams
-
Kenneth "koosta" Suen
-
Dylan "SATURN" Finch (Substitute)
It's uncertain whether Orgless will be on the hunt for a new fifth or if they will use their substitute Dylan "SATURN" Finch before the 26th of April when the new season of ECL is set to start.
Update: SATURN has since been confirmed to be a member of the new ONET4P roster headed by Gage "Infinite" Green. This leaves Orgless without their substitute and looking for a fifth for the upcoming season.
Update 2: ATK has confirmed that Swisher will be joining the team on trial with truth has left due to health issues.
