ESL and Louvre Agreement teams donate $125,000 to disaster relief in Ukraine
ESL have announced that itself and members of the Louvre Agreement - which include the likes of Complexity, Liquid and EG - have all agreed to donate $125,000 to provide disaster relief for those impacted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The donations will be split amongst several, leading charitable organizations such as: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), The Red Cross, MSF (Doctors without Borders) and Amnesty International.
These funds will also be donated independently from other donations and initiatives made by ESL and its associated organizations. Notably, ESL previously provided time off for its employees who were either affected by the situation or those wanting to provide humanitarian relief. The German-based tournament organizer also made another undisclosed donation to the UNHCR.
This news comes after ESL previously restricted organizations with links to the Russian government from competing at ESL Pro League Season 15. The two prominent organizations affected were Gambit and Virtus.pro, with both of the organizations' rosters now set to play under neutral names.
This also isn't the first instance where ESL has supported charitable causes. Last year, ESL hosted their Gamers Without Borders event where $1.5 million was distributed amongst several charities such as The International Medical Corps and UNICEF. Before that, ESL joined forces with Gamers Outreach, an organization that provides gaming technology and the like to help children and teenagers in hospitals.
