DreamHack announce three Brazilian teams for Open Rio
DreamHack have announced the first three teams headed to DreamHack Open Rio in April, the first DreamHack Open event of the year.
The three teams who have received invites are Luminosity, FURIA and Sharks. Luminosity and FURIA are currently based in North America, with both teams currently competing in ESEA MDL Season 30. FURIA have also recently been in action at the IEM Katowice Major, being eliminated from the New Challengers stage on a 1-3 record, with the final loss coming against Cloud9.
Luminosity recently competed in the iBUYPOWER Masters, taking a disappointing last place finish. Sharks have previously split their residence between Europe and remaining in Brazil, regularly taking part in the LA League in the second half of last year. Recently, they missed out on securing places in the upcoming ESL Pro League Latin America group for Season 9, having finished 3rd-4th in the LA League Brazil group.
Any potential appearance for MIBR at the Brazilian event was ruled out last month by Epitacio "TACO" de Melo in a Tweet, stating "calendar problems" being the main factor for their non-attendance at the event.
This leaves the current list of teams for DreamHack Open Rio as follows:
FURIA | Luminosity |

DreamHack Open Rio will take place between April 19th - 21st at the city's Barra Olympic Park. Details on qualifiers and the other invites are still to be announced.
