Renegades knocked out of StarSeries by OpTic
The StarSeries i-League Season 6 playoffs started earlier today, with the opening match being between Renegades and OpTic at the early time of 3 AM EDT. With it being a best-of-three, the two teams decided to play on Dust2, Inferno with a potential decider of Mirage.
Dust2 commenced with OpTic picking up the pistol and first anti-eco round, before Renegades answered back in the third and fourth rounds to instantly even the match up once again. The Danish team went back in control straight away afterwards picking up a number of round streaks, keeping the Oceanic team at bay with just a peppering of individual rounds meaning OpTic went into the break 10-5 ahead.
The second half looked to turn the tide for Renegades, picking up the first two rounds of the half before forcing back in after OpTic picked up a round. But Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke proved too strong for their opponents in this map, claiming a 16-8 win.
The first half of Inferno appeared to be more of the same. The Danes, led by Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer opened the map up with a strong five round streak before Renegades were able to secure a single round. Justin "jks" Savage and co were restricted to just occasional round wins as OpTic just went on a rampage, claiming a 11-4 half.
The second half looked to be different for Renegades, as they too started off with a five round streak to narrow OpTic's lead. But apart from that, and one extra round won later in the half, the target proved to be unreachable as the Danes claimed a 16-10 win on Inferno to progress to the semifinals.
This result means NRG are the final North American-based team competing in Kiev. They're set to play the last quarterfinal match of the day against North, scheduled for 12 PM EDT.
