Favorites advance in day 1 of Toyota Masters qualifier
The first day of the Toyota Masters qualifier has come to a close, seeing all of the first round matchup favorites advance into the Round of 8. The only MDL team to not advance was Vision, who had the most difficult matchup against Bravado.
The two most dominant wins of the night saw Bruno "bit" Lima lead the way both in-game and in frags for oNe, allowing the team to breeze past NightShade on Dust2 for a 16-0 victory. Their countrymen from FURIA had a similarly easy path through POWERHAUS as they picked up a 16-2 win on Cache, while ReloadFocus were granted a forfeit win against DEFY.
Ghost, Bravado, and eUnited all kept their matches under wraps, keeping their opponents under 10 rounds for relatively clean victories of their own. Gorilla Gang was the only team to narrowly edge out their matchup, beating cliq on Train 16-13 to advance to the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal matchups for day 2 of the Toyota Masters Bangkok qualifier are as follows:
September 29th |
Gorilla Gang vs. AZIO |
oNe vs. eUnited |
FURIA vs. Bravado |
ReloadFocus vs. Ghost |
While Ghost is likely to breeze through their matchup, the remaining trio of best-of-one matches are set to go down to the wire. FURIA will have the chance to rematch Bravado after falling to the South African team in a best-of-three for ECS earlier in the week, while oNe will have their mettle tested as they try to fight off the EPL side of eUnited.
