CSL prepares for 2018/2019 season; registration open
Collegiate StarLeague have announced details regarding the upcoming season of its annual collegiate league. Registration is currently open and will remain so until October 6th, with the league kicking off just a week later on October 13th.
The primary changes from last season include more lax restrictions on player transfers, double-elimination playoffs, changes to seeding in the regular season, and the introduction of an invitational for top teams during the second half.
The CSL Winter Invitational will see the top Varsity and Junior Varsity teams seeded into a bracket following the conclusion of Week 7, with the tournament playing out online during the early days of the Spring semester. The tournament will feature a prize pool independent of the league's, however the prize pool amount has not yet been announced.
The entry fees for teams are $25/team for the Junior Varsity league and $100/team for the Varsity league, with the latter division boasting a $30,000 prize pool and an all-expenses paid trip for the CSL finals for the top teams at the end of the regular season. Schools will also be restricted to one team per college for the Varsity league, with the lower Junior Varsity league allowing multiple teams from one school to compete in the division.
More information can be found in the league's blog post on CEVO. As mentioned previously, registration is currently open until October 6th.
CUNY Baruch claimed victory at the LAN finals of CSL's 2018 Spring season back in April, where they defended their collegiate title in a 2-0 series, winning the $10,000 grand prize.
