FRENCH CANADIANS make brief return; win DreamHack Montreal BYOC
Running alongside the main event of DreamHack Montreal was the less-covered BYOC event, with Keven "AZK" Lariviere and FRENCH CANADIANS coming out on top. Along with the former iBUYPOWER player, the mix reunited 60% of the FRENCH CANADIANS Season 24-26 MDL rosters, in the forms of Yassine "Subroza" Taofik, Anthony "gMd" Guimond, and Loic "effys" Sauvageau.
This was the first notable action for effys since having been handed an ESEA ban early in the month.
Other participating teams included Advanced team Grizzlys and the mix team slashLVL, who can be found in Main. LiViD, Danny "huynh" Huynh's current team, was also present, featuring Dignitas Fe's Catherine "CAth" Leroux in place of the former Vision player.
The upper bracket saw FRENCH CANADIANS and Grizzlys facing off for the upper bracket final, in which FRENCH CANADIANS were able to pull off a 2-0 victory on Mirage and Cache.
The finals spotlighted FRENCH CANADIANS and slashLVL, with Yassine "Subroza" Taofik and company having a one map advantage. slashLVL would go on to take the second map, but it was all FRENCH CANADIANS from there as they took the BYOC title 2-1.
The prize pool and final placings look as such:
