Infamous and oNe qualify for MDL Season 29; ex-Atmosphere, subtLe, and MWNL demoted
Day three of ESEA MDL relegation has concluded, with Infamous and oNe securing spots in MDL Season 29 thanks to wins over Big Frames and Forty Six and 2, respectively. Furthermore, ex-Atmosphere, subtLe, Whatever It Takes, and Make War Not Love have been eliminated from contention and will find themselves in Advanced next season.
Down in the lower bracket, Whatever It Takes was taken down by Vault 0-2 (4-16 Inferno, 6-16 Train). Starting on Inferno, the Colombian side had a dominant Terrorist half, only dropping five rounds at different points. Juanes "sickLy" Valencia was the key player for his team, and helped to close out the final rounds and take map one.
The second map was generally the same story, with an 11-4 lead for Vault. This time, WiT managed to take a couple rounds in the second half, but still succumbed to Andres "spamzz" Correa and his teammates to lose the series 0-2.

In the next lower bracket game, the highest seeded team Make War Not Love fell to Glockoma, the lowest seed, 0-2 (7-16 Mirage, 11-16 Inferno). MWNL started off the game well, going up 4-1, but afterwards completely crumbled. In the next 18 rounds, they could only manage 3 round wins, with Joel "jcrueL" Cruel taking the helm for his side, resulting in a map win for Glockoma.
The second map began a lot more competitive, with MWNL actually securing six Terrorist rounds on Inferno. However, they couldn't lock it down on the CT side as jcrueL once again stepped up and secured a 1.51 rating to keep his team alive in the relegation tournament.

Next up was ETHEREAL defeating now former MDL side ex-Atmosphere 2-0 (16-13 Inferno, 16-8 Mirage). ex-Atmosphere put up a solid defense on the first map, taking a 7-2 and then 9-6 lead. However, they were unable to make any dent on their own T side, as Jonathan "rongcho" Jo locked down the second half and helped ETHEREAL to closely take map one.
ex-Atmosphere wasn't completely out of it on Mirage, as they mustered at least 5 rounds in the first half. Despite the efforts of Brandon "BOOBIE" Roberts, the majority Canadian team was unable to overcome ETHEREAL and found themselves eliminated from MDL contention.

The last match of the second round of the lower bracket saw Geostorm barely take down subtLe 2-1 (10-16 Cache, 16-12 Mirage, 22-18 Inferno). Geostorm kicked off their campaign with a powerful Terrorist half on Cache. However, the 27 kills of Matthew "no_one" Congdon shut down Geostorm's dreams as subtLe rolled through their own T side to take the map.
This seemed to light a fire under the seats of the Geostorm players as on Mirage, they racked up a massive 12-3 first half. subtLe wasn't to be counted out though, and mounted a big comeback. It was Damian "droid" Boulware who stepped up for Geostorm in the end, and with an 82% KAST helped his team to eventually shut down the comeback and even up the series.
subtLe kept on fighting on Inferno, and gained a quick 7-0 lead from the T side. Geostorm answered back immediately to secure themselves a 7-8 half score. During the second half, the Advanced side secured the lead and a 14-11 scoreline. The veterans of subtLe dug deep and secured themselves overtime. During the OT however, it was the young droid again who put in the extra work, allowing his team to edge the map in the end and keep themselves alive in the bracket.

Moving to the upper bracket, we saw the first qualifying match of the tournament which saw Infamous take down Big Frames 2-1 (16-7 Mirage, 7-16 Train, 16-10 Cache). Infamous certainly came prepared on map one, as they kicked it off with a huge 6-0 and then 10-1 lead. With in-game leader Josh "JoshRT" Lee on a 1.60 rating, Infamous was able to quickly take the first map for themselves.
Big Frames answered back swiftly by taking their own 8-1 lead on Train and established clear control of the map. Ryan "Church" Church put up an admirable performance, taking 26 frags, and powered Big Frames to even the series by taking map two.
The Advanced side took the first three rounds of the decider map, but proceeded to drop eight in a row. Big Frames were unable to recover from the deficit gained until the second half, but by that time the impact of Blake "Strings" Stringer was too much to overcome, and Infamous took the final map and the series, securing their place in the MDL.

The final upper bracket game determined the second team to qualify for MDL as oNe eased past Forty Six and 2 2-0 (16-12 Inferno, 16-4 Train). The first half of Inferno actually started with a pretty strong lead for the oNe side. Late in the game, Forty Six and 2 began a comeback to go from 7-14 to 12-15, but Jean-Michel "mch" D'Oliveira and his men managed to grind out the win in the end.
Train was much more of a wash for the North American side, as 46&2 only managed four rounds, all won consecutively interestingly, in the middle of the first half. AWPer Pedro "Maluk3" Campos put up a strong performance for his team, and allowed oNe to easily win map two and qualify for the upper division, something that will please many redditors.

Tomorrow, the lower bracket will continue, with ETHEREAL set to face Geostorm and Vault set to take on Glockoma. The winners of these two matches will face Big Frames and Forty Six and 2 in the loser's semifinals. As a reminder, due to the removal of Really Old People from the league, a fifth spot will be available to losers of tomorrows matches.
