compLexity survive relegation; ex-Splyce drop to Lower Bracket Finals
The first team to make it out of EPL Season 7 Relegation has been decided, as compLexity made quick work of ex-Splyce in just two maps. This result has sent Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen and his squad down to the Lower Bracket Finals, where they now sit in wait for the result of Torqued vs. Swole Patrol.
It's worth noting that Zachary "Eley" Stauffer stood in for David "DAVEY" Stafford during this series due to his falling ill.
Beginning their series on Inferno, it was neck-and-neck between the two relegated teams in the first half, as both saw patches of success, with compLexity slightly edging out ex-Splyce on their CT-side 8-7. Despite picking up the pistol round in the second half, ex-Splyce began to crumble under the pressure from their EPL counterparts' T-side aggression, allowing compLexity to run away with the game with little resistance 16-11.
compLexity carried their momentum over from the prior map as the two transitioned over to Mirage, securing the first five consecutive rounds on their T-side to get the ball rolling. The lackluster defense from ex-Splyce appeared to have also carried over from Inferno, as they struggled to pick-up the sparse four rounds they would end the first half with, bringing it to 11-4 for compLexity before switching sides.
Mustering what little gas they had left in the tank, ex-Splyce managed to thwart compLexity's pistol round win with an eco-buy in the second round. After converting their success into two additional rounds, compLexity recomposed themselves and claimed the last four they needed to secure the series and requalify for EPL.
The next match of the day will see Torqued and Swole Patrol clash to decide which will return to MDL and which will face ex-Splyce in the Lower Bracket Finals for their shot at EPL Season 8, though it's unclear if DAVEY will be present for that match either.
