ShoT_UP: "I have an alt account in Main"
After a 2-1 that almost could've seen Drip or Drown 2-0'd early on, due to heroics from PUGLIFE's DaneJoris, ShoT_UP was able to sneak by.
Will "dazzLe" Loafman, ShoT_UP's doppelganger, played tremendous beside him as they both dropped over 24 frags each in the final match.
This is your first event since the MDL Challenge in January, how's Mad City going for you so far?
I enjoyed that I didn't have to come in on Friday. Otherwise I would've had to skip school, and I don't think my parents would have let me. Other than that, Mad City and their entire crew has a really good set up because they have their own set up for servers. Even [Fragadelphia] doesn't have that, they just give an IP.
Has Mad City brought back your competitive fire to play CS?
Absolutely not. Honestly, I didn't bring earbuds, cause I didn't care about the LAN. Neptune just messaged me "Do you wanna go to this LAN?" and I just paid the entry fee without thinking of it after that. I mean, it's fun, but I can't see playing it every day.
How long can we expect to see you back for?
This is a one off. I have an alt account in Main, who pays me weekly. I still play, but I think it's a one off.
The MDL Challenge in January was one of your more poor statisical events. Was that the catalyst to retiring?
Absolutely not dude. Going into that LAN, I probably had 9 hours in the last 2 weeks. My team knew I didn't care. I knew I didn't care. I said to my team "I'm gonna quit after this, I don't wanna play anymore."
Recently witmer also retired, and he came into this LAN having 0 hours played in the last 2 weeks. How did you prepare for this LAN?
I'm similar. I didn't have zero hours because of the alt account in Main. I think I have 3 hours in the past two weeks. Other than that, I haven't played.
In this particular matchup, you played PUGLIFE, and you dropped a map. How tough was that game for you guys?
(Laughs) That game was actually so [bad]. It was incredible. We were down 11-2, it was ridiculous. We sat there thinking this map is over, lets go to the next one. We were holding tab like "who are these guys?"
Like one guy on their team DaneJoris, I looked him up, and he has good stats in Main, so it makes sense. When you're getting [wrecked] by some kid you've never heard of, it's literally so ridiculous.
Next game you will know who you're playing though. It's the Mask Off pug team. How are you going to prepare for that one?
"Uhh... we're probably not gonna. I'm kind of trolling my team like "you're gonna lose your flight fee, you're gonna come out with a $100 dollars from this tournament." I'm sure we can win, but I've never been too optimistic about winning. I think we can win, but we're not gonna prep at all.
You mentioned a Main team that's giving you a 'weekly allowance', how well are you guys doing?
We're 11-2 in Main. It's probably really easy to figure which team it is. We have a lot of high profile players on our team who probably shouldn't be in Main. But all the players don't really play anyway.
Are you guys hoping to win Main and make MDL?
I hope we win Main. I've been told if we win Main I'm going to get more money.
Is it an organization?
No it's an individual. He's followed through on everything, and he's said he's going to pay us $100-200 per win in playoffs. I'm still not going to practice (laughs), but yeah know, I'll play as good as I can. I don't think we'll win Main, but I think we have a chance.
Despite his unoptimistic view point on winning of any kind, he secretly plays Counter Strike at an MDL level of skill. ShoT_UP is something of an enigma.
The semifinal saw ShoT_UP and co. walk away with a win over Mask Off, and Drip or Drown now await their opponent in the Grand Final of the event.
