Perfect World announce Major showmatch featuring s1mple, Chinese F1 driver
Perfect World have announced the rosters for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Showmatch, seeing a truly exciting and eclectic mix of players, talent, and an F1 driver assembled to play a best of one ahead of the Major grand finals between FaZe and Spirit.
The two teams, named after the Shanghai Major's mascots HAI and BYE, essentially break down to a Europe versus China matchup, with Team HAI being a bit of an eclectic mix while Team BYE is built around the Rare Atom core that captivated Chinese audiences despite their 1-3 exit in the Major Opening Stage.
Team HAI
The European mixteam, Team HAI, features three Major winners in the form of Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko, Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski, Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev, with s1mple being the only active of the trio, albeit missing the Major this time around while playing with Falcons. They are joined by French showmatch regular Audric "JACKZ" Jug, who himself was a Major finalist with G2, but more recently has focused on the local French scene.
As for their "wildcard" player, Team HAI are closed out by Spirit DOTA 2 star Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk, who is a two-time The International winner with Spirit. He is in China to support his CS2 colleagues as they will be taking on FaZe in the finals later in the day.
Team BYE
As previously mentioned, Team BYE is built around the Chinese Rare Atom core of HaoWen "somebody" Xu, YuLun "Summer" Cai, and Junhao "ChildKing" Peng, who recently attended the Shanghai Major as China's sole team. On the squad they are joined by Chinese caster and streamer Yibo "MachineWJQ" Liu, a big name in the Chinese community with 176,000 followers on Weibo.
Team BYE's most intriguing addition, however, is undoubtedly Chinese F1 driver Zhou Guanyu, who previously drove for Stake and Alfa Romeo. He is well known for being China' first professional F1 driver and is also a CS2 fan and player.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major Showmatch will begin at 02:00AM.
