Americas could earn two Elimination Spots tomorrow
Complexity and paiN are two teams coming from very different paths this stage of the Major. The American squad looked determined to qualify for the playoffs after rushing all the way to 2-0 on the first day, just to slowly tumble down to the 2-2 pool.
Meanwhile, the Brazilians from paiN have fought tooth and nail to go from their horrific 0-2 start to an upbeat 2-2 record as they took down TheMongolz and HEROIC is incredibly fashion.
Now, both squads are looking to qualify for tomorrow's playoffs, which would bring the Americas two Legends spots for the first time since the 2021 PGL Stockholm Major when the region had three spots.
Complexity will go up against one of their long-time foes, FaZe. The European squad were the ones to take them down at IEM Sydney 2023 and in the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 right here in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen. The matchup is also slightly interesting, as GameSquare parted ways with Complexity in part to officially acquire the FaZe brand. Now, Complexity has a chance to show their former owners made a mistake.
paiN will be waiting to see who they play, but it will either be Cloud9 or Natus Vincere. The two squads have looked shaky in their plays this week and have the potential to be upset. The Brazilian squad is playing like they have nothing to lose which permeates through their positive attitude while on the server.
Should both teams go through to the playoffs, the Americas region will end up with two spots that allow teams to directly enter the Top 16 at the Perfect World Shanghai Major while five Americas teams will need to enter through the Opening Stage.
Fans will be tuned into the action all tomorrow as they hope for the best from their regional representatives, with the Complexity - FaZe matchup providing the top billing.
