Wildcard unable to upset Monte
Wildcard was the first North American team to play in the Thunderpick World Championship, and their task would not be easy, having to face Monte. Brett "brett" Rhein and co. could not stop the Ukrainian squad despite having some good looks at times.
The North American team shall not beat themselves down as this was the expected result against a tier one opponent. Valuable experience and some good signs are what Wildcard can take from this series while they prepare to meet the loser of FaZe vs. SAW.
The first map was Overpass, picked by Wildcard, and it got off to a good start for the Americans, with the T-side pistol round win. Although unable to convert that into another one or two rounds, Wildcard managed to win the first gun round of the map, to cut the lead to just one round, at 3-2. After that, Monte settled down and breezed past the NA team flawlessly. The second half was also quick, with Wildcard unable to win a single round. 13-2 was the final score.
Going into Anubis, picked by Monte, Wildcard fell quickly to a 5-1 deficit but managed to regroup and take the lead 6-5 before going into halftime tied 6-6. Anubis is considered a T-side map and Monte showed why that is, with seven straight rounds to win the series. Wildcard had some chances but because the Ukrainians have much more experience, they were able to shut the opposition down. 13-6 was the final score.
Wildcard will face the loser of FaZe vs. SAW tomorrow at 10:00AM in an elimination series.
