Jeorge: "NA fans want NA players in NA teams"
BLAST Premier Fall Groups starts tomorrow with Evil Geniuses taking on Vitality, but Dust2.us' Gonçalo "GoncOak" Carvalho talked with Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott before everyone gets busy competing. The duo talked about EG's failed attempt at getting a European roster, the bootcamp prior to the event, expectations, and the immediate future for the roster.
How do you feel knowing your current roster wasn't the first option for the organization and how do you feel knowing many fans wanted you guys to represent NA instead of EG having a European roster?
In terms of not being the first option, obviously the rumored roster they were going to get had very high-caliber players, can't blame them for wanting to get a Major-competing team as soon as possible but it didn't come through. In terms of the fans wanting us the whole time, it makes sense NA fans want NA players in NA teams.
Your time with EG Black was very positive and you were the star rifler of that team. Can we expect similar performances on the top tier of Counter-Strike?
Yeah, I think so. The bootcamp we had the past week, things have only been going up since day one so I think people will be surprised.
This is your first time playing against top teams from Europe, but you have had some time to adjust during your bootcamp. What are some weaknesses you are looking to explore?
Well, all the top teams are pretty well-knit, there are some teams that made roster changes so, maybe they will have some weaknesses adjusting their new player but we are just looking to play our own game.
Have you felt any structure or resource changes going from EG Black to EG Main?
Yeah, we have to have more resources, and I would say the biggest one is having maLeK as our second coach. He has helped me a lot individually and the team, I think. Probably the biggest change.
valens told Dust2.us that the team was looking to extend the stay in Europe. Has that been handled yet? What is your opinion on the team spending more time far from home?
I believe we are going to stay for another two weeks after this event and we are going to bootcamp in Copenhagen. I think for most of us, we are all young and we haven't really traveled that much so it's fine, we are going to be here for like a month in total. Me, personally, I don't have any issue with it.
During your time with the Black roster you were playing with RUSH but now that you have been promoted you are sharing the server with autimatic. What are the main differences between the two of them in terms of leadership?
I'd say RUSH is more hands-on and tries to be more integrated into the round and how he wants to play the game and autimatic is kind of more laid back, lets people figure it out for themselves.
What are the team's expectations for this event?
The expectation is to develop and grow as a team. It's our first tier-one LAN together, so we are not expecting to win or anything but if we can take some maps off of some good teams that's a plus for us.
Is there any possibility that you can upset Vitality tomorrow?
Anything is possible.
Jeorge on LAN. We don't see you on LAN very often, the last time it was ESL Challenger Melbourne. This is your biggest LAN so far. What should your opponents fear from you?
They are not accustomed to playing against me, so that could be a good or bad thing, maybe they won't respect me but I think if I make them respect me then it will be a good showing.
Do you have something else to say to North American fans?
Thank you for all the support and hope you cheer for us.
Evil Geniuses will meet Vitality tomorrow at 09:00AM as the teams will open this year's BLAST Premier Fall Groups.
