Drowsy first round of ECL S43 playoffs
As teams should be preparing for the upper semifinals and lower bracket quarterfinals, it is important to know what happened during the first day of ESL Challenger League Season 43 North America.
The game between Nouns and Iron Blood was seen as a must-watch, due to Iron Blood being on the rise recently, and Nouns making some lineup changes. Nouns managed to come out on top unscathed with a 2-0 win in a dull series.
oNe and Disconnected had a tighter series score, but taking into account the history of the match, it was all Brazil. The first map went Disconnected's way 16-12. Despite that, oNe woke up and chose violence, taking the next two maps with 16-5 and 16-7 scores, and two immaculate CT-sides.
Do you know who didn't wake up? You probably do. The match between EG Black and Vendetta was forfeited by the latter team due to Anthony "CLASIA" Kearney sleeping through the match, preventing his team from playing and sending them straight to the lower bracket.
The only game that lived up to the hype was ATK vs. MIBR. The series had the whole three maps being played, with two of those being overtimes. Both teams lost their pick, with MIBR nearly winning theirs but not surviving the first OT. ATK didn't play Ancient, as the Brazilians took a commanding 16-3 win. The final map was Overpass and that culminated with a 19-17 score for MIBR.
The second day of playoffs starts at 08:00PM following the bracket below:
