EG Gold disband as contracts expire

The team's dissolution came without an announcement by the troubled organization.

Yesterday EG Gold player Juliana "Juli" Tosic confirmed that Evil Geniuses' ESL Impact lineup has entered free agency, seeing the troubled Seattle-based organization continue their reported wind down of operations in esports. While Juli and her teammates did not post about the move until December 28th, Juli told Dust2.us that the players' contracts expired on December 25th while Joseph "Muenster" Lima confirmed that his contract is set to expire on December 31st.

The loss of support for the EG Gold players comes at a difficult time for the NA Impact scene, with recent changes by ESL stripping spots in future Impact LAN events away from the region. This overall lack of opportunity for Impact was touched on by Juli, stating that she plans on focusing on college and co-ed competition heading into 2024. Likewise, when asked if there were any plans on sticking together, Juli and Vanessa "vanessa" Gideon both told Dust2.us that was not in the players' plans at the moment.

While EG Gold was never able to establish itself as a top Impact team, their exit puts the NA Impact scene in even more of a bind as it leaves FlyQuest RED as the sole professional-level organization supporting NA talent. The only silver lining in this situation is that the talent may disperse and boost the likes of Shimmer, Tsunami Sirens, and other NA Impact teams who may be looking to chop and change ahead of next season.

EG Gold were:

  • Long "PiggyKiki" Kiki

  • United States Kiara "m1lky" Makua

  • Sweden Tilde "7licious" Byström

  • United States Juliana "Juli" Tosic

  • United States Vanessa "vanessa" Gideon

  • United States Joseph "Muenster" Lima (Coach)
