Evil Geniuses knocked out of CCT North Europe Series 6
After the debut of Evil Geniuses' new roster at BLAST Premier Fall Groups, where the team managed to take just one map in three matches, the inexperienced team made the most of their time in Europe as they were invited to the playoffs of CCT North Europe Series 6. EG secured a top four finish with wins over ARCRED and MIBR in their first two games, however, they fell to Spirit in the semifinals with the Russian side powered by academy product Artem "ArtFr0st" Kharitonov.
EG struggled to get into the game as they lost Mirage 16-7 and Overpass 16-5 with Spirit securing a comfortable 2-0 victory to move onto the final. Artfr0st dropped a 1.76 rating with fellow academy star Danil "donk" Kryshkovets posting a 1.30 rating in what is a positive sign after Spirit gambled on promoting their youngsters to the main team.
EG will no doubt be disappointed with their lack of competitiveness in the series but can take positives from their tournament run and will benefit from getting experience against European opposition, they also bested the old cores CCT results. The old EG core participated in three CCT events being knocked out in the first round twice against EYEBALLERS and Illuminar and losing to Monte in the quarterfinals of their other appearance.
The next step for the young EG team is currently set to be ESL Pro League Season 18 which kicks off on August 30th, giving the team a month to fit in some more practice and maybe online cups before their next test at tier one competition.
