Media: Liquid and FURIA negotiate Brazilian's return home
It appears it's not just Casper "cadiaN" Møller who seems to be on his way out. According to Dust2 Brasil, Felipe "skullz" Medeiros might be going back home as FURIA is in talks with Liquid and the young anchor. Dust2 Brasil understands that the negotiations are going well and that skullz is receptive to joining FURIA.
The move was, potentially jokingly, first hinted at by Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill on an episode of HLTV Confirmed, where he described the leak as "OverDrive-level" rumor.
skullz joined Liquid in late December 2023 and played his first match for Liquid on January 10th against LOS, in a series counting for the first PGL Copenhagen Major North American RMR Open Qualifier. Despite having had a solid first month with the squad, skullz was unable to find a consistent level against tier-one opponents, which only added fuel to the fire, as the whole Liquid team was underperforming.
If the deal comes to life, the Brazilian rifler will end his stint with Liquid with a 1.05 HLTV Rating and a 62.7% map win-rate. His biggest achievement with the squad happened just last month, as skullz and co. finished the CCT Global Finals in second place, having beaten AMKAL, OG, ENCE, and Astralis to reach the Grand Finals, where they lost to Eternal Fire.
On the other end of the deal is a struggling FURIA side, which had to resort to its academy to field a full five-man squad. This choice did not turn out successful as Kayke "kye" Bertolucci, who was called up, only lasted a month, being the target of much criticism. The Brazilian side is now hoping skullz is the missing piece and is looking to join him with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and the rest of the squad.
Should the move come to fruition, FURIA will be:
-
Yuri "yuurih" Boian
-
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
-
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
-
Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes
-
Felipe "skullz" Medeiros
