Cloud9 announce TenZ as first VALORANT player
Cloud9 have revealed that their first pro for VALORANT is none other than Tyson "TenZ" Ngo. The 18-year-old Canadian has been tied to the organization since the forming of the previous iteration of their CS:GO lineup that featured the now Gen.G core of Timothy "autimatic" Ta, Kenneth "koosta" Suen, and Damian "daps" Steele.
Explaining the move, TenZ said: "I decided to make this change because after getting access to the closed Beta I have been having a lot of fun playing VALORANT lately. I just thought it would be best if I changed games and I'm just really excited for the future of this game".
TenZ was last seen as a stand-in for In The Lab in MDL Relegation last week, where he shone individually, but could not prevent In The Lab from dropping to ESEA Advanced for Season 34. He also competed in the Asia Minor Middle East Closed Qualifier for ESL One Rio with ATK, where finished 5-6th despite TenZ being the highest rated player in the event.
TenZ becomes the third noteworthy name from the North American CS:GO scene to be announced as a pro player by an organization in anticipation of professional VALORANT, following Braxton "swag" Pierce and Keven "AZK" Larivière, who were both signed by T1.
