xertioN: "I've had a mindset shift since we lost in Paris"
Following MOUZ's win over fnatic, where Dorian "xertioN" Berman got 26 kills and a 1.62 rating, Dust2.us' Jeff "Mnmzzz" Moore caught up with the young star. They talked about his monster performance, his new mindset post-Paris, what has been going wrong for his team, and more.
Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
You had a monster performance in that opening match against fnatic. Can you tell me what went right for you as an individual and how your team enabled you to be successful?
For me, it might be too early to say, but I had a mindset shift since we lost in Paris. It's been working for now, I have been a bit looser when I play the game, which is something needed from me. I'm looking forward to the next games to see if I can keep it up.
f0rest is standing in for KRIMZ, and KRIMZ is a relatively key piece of that fnatic lineup. Did the fact that you were playing against someone who has been out of activity for a while factor in? Was there any degree of targeting or counter-strating him specifically?
Not really, at least not from what I know. I think we went ramp a lot but I think it was just a part of the gameplan we wanted to play against fnatic. Obviously, f0rest is an amazing player and I was laughing about it, that this guy I feel like he doesn't miss, if he plays or not, he is a legend. I don't think there was anything specific but it was just fun to play and it's unfortunate for them that they have to use a stand-in.
Katowice, the Major, all that hasn't necessarily lived up to the expectations from IEM Rio last year. Why do you think MOUZ has struggled so much to find their peak form that we sort of have seen in the past?
To be honest, I'm not too sure. Maybe it was a clash of the way we see things in-game, sometimes. I think we started off pretty well and then maybe we went too deep into thinking about everything in the game and all the shots we have and I think everyone tried to be comfortable and that's pretty difficult to do. It's hard to pinpoint as well, we all have some blame in it, in the team, but yeah, this season hasn't been doing well at all, so I just hope to end it on a good note.
